God has laid a foundation with precious stones that is tried (Isaiah 28:16). Nothing can shake it. Foundations are usually buried. How great a structure will be is determined by the strength of its foundation. Hard work is required to lay a good foundation.
Paul said “I have laid the foundation.” Jesus is the foundation and the precious stone. He has been tried and cannot fail. Paul called us God’s husbandry and God’s building. We are built on the foundation. Different people will build us on the foundation just as different workmen build a physical building. Let everyone be careful how he/she is being built because you can be wrongly built. Jeremiah 3:15 says God will provide for us pastors that will feed us with knowledge and understanding. You will miss your path if you don’t have the correct knowledge of what it takes to follow Jesus. Hosea 4:6 says my people perish because of lack of knowledge. Knowledge is power.
The grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lust (Titus 2: 11-12). Grace is a teacher. The first lesson of grace is to say “no” to sin. You have to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. It is a decision no one can make for you but yourself. Grace is more important for the guiltiest. Jesus did not come for the righteous but sinners. Grace will carry you and you will have your name in the book of life.
